Thanksgiving 2020

 

This year is definitely a different holiday, on a normal year this would be the start of my busiest time of the year at the theatre. However this year I am off of work thanks to the pandemic. With cases on the rising and new regulations being placed particularly on the entertainment industry I can safety predict that this will be the same story come Christmas and New Years.

For today however, I will be continuing to bubble and will have dinner with my mom and sister!

Clutter or Storage...?

Can you see it?

     So, it is no mystery that we all try to put the best versions of ourselves out there for the world to see. However one reality I have found when renovating an entire house is you end up cramming all your furniture into pre renovated spare rooms for storage.

    The prior tenants of my home were hoarders... so one of the first things I had to do was empty it out and find the interior! Once I sifted through all their stuff I kept a few pieces of furniture that were original to the home that date back to the late 1800s. So now all 3000+ square feet of house is completely empty, but fast forward seven years later and I have accumulated A LOT of stuff thanks to yard sales, estate sales, antique shops, flee markets, and the occasional barn finds.

    I understand from the photos you might think I have a problem but in the case of antiques, you almost have to buy them when you see them since they can’t just order you in another one if they run out. Growing up I always wanted a Victorian home full of antiques, but I also know it is not the most ideal situation to renovate with so much stuff in the house. So for the time being I have all my furniture for the upper floor of my home crammed into these two rooms... well maybe two and a half rooms, but who's really counting! I will admit I use have almost five rooms that looked like these two. Luckily with the renovation progress I have been able to downsize the number of "storage unit" style rooms needed since all the furniture for my main level has been able to find its way down to their home in all the different rooms. However let’s face it I will always have at least one room at all times that looks extremely cluttered until all the rooms are restored, but with every room I get done and furnished I am able to bring that childhood dream of mine into reality!

A Morning Delight

 

For the past few weeks my sleeping pattern has been completely off. Which has been really annoying. I have been wide awake since 2:30am ET today, and normally I admit I am not a morning person AT ALL! So since I was up so early I decided to go to the grocery store once the store opened to avoid the crowds. To my delight when I went outside I was greeted with a beautiful sunrise this morning, so I guess there is a silver lining in everything. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

True Friendship

    It is amazing the difference is between friends. You would of never thought that my best friend and I growing up would ever be so close. For all those who remember Boy Meets World, the relationship between Cory and Shawn basically mirrors that of my own with my friend.

    In our relationship I was definitely Cory's character and he was just like Shawn. And before you asked I didn't have a Mr. Feeny living next door! But we were connected at the hip and he would influence me into a lot of shenanigans and I would be the voice of reason. We were quite the pair back then.

    And sadly like Shawn's character, he too didn't have the most stable home life. So he sought out whatever form of attention he could get in school. He would try for since positive attention but his parents never seemed to notice it so when that failed he switched to negative attention since that at least would catch someone's attention.

    At the end of junior high he was basically expelled from the private school we both attended. His only option was then to transferred to the public school across town, once there he started to hang out with a bad group. We started to see less and less of each other and the negative influence of that new group of so called friends he begun to run with wasn't good for him. He started smoking, tried drugs, stole, and started sleeping around.

    We would still talk on the phone occasionally and I would try to be the voice of reason and give him the positive advice that he needed so desperately bad. Since I wasn't there all the time anymore he always managed to end up in trouble. He ended up dropping out of school what would of been the end of our senior year. But luckily the tides had turned for him and he decided to enlist in the U.S. Navy.

    He did end up earning his GED and when he came and told me I was so proud of him. He had begun to beat the odds that were stacked against him. And he later even reenlisted for a second term and has started going to college online.

    Thanks to the discipline he got by joining the navy I can almost say without a doubt it had save his life. I truly believe if he hadn't enlisted he would either be in jail today or even dead. And I am immensely grateful that this was the course life put him on and I still have my best friend.

    Last time I saw him I finally came out to him, and he didn't care one bit. In fact he already knew but was waiting for me to come and tell him. In fact he even came to my defense when someone rudely came at me that night. We have been friends now for almost 20 years and I know I have a life long friendship in him and a brother! HAPPY 26th BIRTHAY!

Veterans Day 2020

BEST WEEKEND!

 

    I think this past weekend was the nicest one I had all year! The weather outside was absolutely beautifulI and felt more like a summer day then November here in Pennsylvania! I admit I felt a sense of calm with the announcement of the new administration, and I have hope that the nation can come together again as one country and step away from our two tribes. However the best news hand down was a text I got on Sunday night! 

    I found out there is going to be a new baby in the family! Not by blood, but by choice! The father had been married to my first cousin, however long story short I got him in the divorce... And he has always wanted a family so I am over the moon exited for him and his wife!

    They are already four months into the pregnancy before they announced it, so there is already been that much time that I don't have to wait for... So now once March 29, 2021 come and this whole pandemic gets under control I am get to holding a baby! Until then.... ANTICIPATION!!!

The Days Looking Bright

 

Today is a sunny day here in Pennsylvania! It is almost 70 degrees outside, and I finally was able to get into my local cloak shop to get several watches fixed. And of course we shouldn’t forget that the election news is looking like it is getting closer to come to a close, and the turnout in this year election by voters has truly been an amazing for our democracy! People that came before us fought for our rights to all have a say in the direction that we the people want our nation to go, so I myself am glad to see that the states are voting every last vote of its people!
