Good Surprising News!!

So surprising thing happened yesterday! I was able to receive my first dose of vaccine! And just saying my arm is so sore today...

I was helping my mom take my grandparents to a vaccination clinic hosted by our hospital. And once there my mom found out that they were keeping a list of names and contacts for if they have leftover doses so they don’t go to waste due to people not showing. I ended up getting the Pfizer vaccine which has  only a few day shelf life.

Ooooh and my sister was also able to get her first dose yesterday the same way! So my grandparents, sister, and I are all scheduled to get our second dose on April 15th! Also my mom is schedule for her second dose of the on April 1st! Maybe life will begin to look more normal soon, and with any luck maybe we could reopen the theatre!

TILE DAY!! Day Five

Yesterday I tackled the cutting some hexagon shaped tile around round holes! Just a little tricky! But I think the tile is looking so good!

I still have at least three more long days left before before all the floor is down! On Saturday I didn’t get as far as I had planned since I went into a antique shop for the first time since 2019!!

I was way overdue, however with the pandemic I have been avoiding going out and doing unnecessary things! But I found a amazing library table from the 1870-80s. It has amazing hardware, working skeleton keys, as well as the original leather top!

I am hoping it will fit up one of my two staircases since I am hoping to put it in my master bedroom! If not I’ll find somewhere on the ground floor to put it! But, what do you have planned for this week?

TILE DAY!! Day Three

My knees hurt so bad but all the tile is laid in my dressing room and I am transitioning into the master bathroom next! The tile edge that goes into the master bedroom turned out amazingly straight if I do say so myself; later I’ll make a wide oak threshold to bond the tile edge to the old inlayed wood flooring!

I have at least another three days of tiling ahead of me to finish the bathroom before I can grout! Hope your week was as productive as mine!

TILE DAY!!

Today is finally TILE DAY!!!!

I’m finally going to start laying my dressing room and master bathroom tile floor. If you remember me talking about this space before, the floors were really bad and I had to replace the floor joists. So to go from that to a black porcelain tile floor that you wouldn’t fall threw is huge!

I’m very excited!

Spring Cleaning 2021!

I try my best to keep up with cleaning finished rooms while my home is under construction. However sometimes you need to just switch modes and dedicate some time for some spring cleaning. Over the past two days I’ve dedicated nine hours of my time to clean five rooms and two staircases. I still have two room left to clean on the first floor and one on the second floor!

What brought on the urge to clean was I finally got two of my floor vents restored after four years of them missing from my formal parlor. They are original to the house when someone added the inlaid flooring and central heating. They were rusted shut and needed fully redone, the ductwork even all needed replaced due to rust. But better late then never... does anyone else’s life gets away on them and then you find yourself working on something else and then you have to go back and finish a project?

One Whole Year...

Today marks a whole year for the theatre to being down due to the pandemic... but thanks to reserves funds we were fortunately able to build over the year as well as the miracle of a vaccine we will be able to reopen again at some unknown future date. As everyday goes by we get one day closer to normalcy again!

On a different note, all the snow has finally melted off my garden! And just like every year the mini crocuses are the first sign of new life! The yellow forsythia flowers are starting to sprout. The daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips are all starting to poke their noses out of the soil from their long hibernation. They aren’t alone though. The irises, lilies, peonies, and hostas are also slowly waking up ready to bring back the much missed greenery and color to the barren yard. I have my fingers crossed that Mother Nature would be so kind and not give us any frosts to stunt their growth or freeze the blooms!

A early morning...

So, I just got back home for a short bit... I have been running around all morning!

I ran to the tax office, to the meet market, the car wash, and I spent about a half out with the gas company down at the theatre to have the meter changed... it is so COLD this morning! When I went and took off my mask it had a layer of ice on the fabric.

But happy Monday, I am going to go make something for breakfast!

Oh, happy International Women’s Day! Let’s all celebrate all the great women in our lives not just today but everyday!

A Busy Week!

I know its been a while but life this week actually felt like there was a need for structural and planning out my schedule! I almost forgot how that  felt... but anyways what’s new with you? For me not to much, just a lot of busy work...

For starters I been working on some home renovating like always! You know working with the basics things like painting, staining, and a little metal restoration! I had a boiler inspector at the theatre which is a formality that happens every so many years but we passed. I did some grocery shopping which feels like a event!

Oh also my mom was able to get her first shot of the vaccine on Thursday! So of course I am so happy about that! I also registered for my own vaccine placement... so fingers crossed I’ll find out after my application is processed when it will be my turn!

I hope that everyone had a great week, and here’s to a great weekend and the hope of getting back to some kind of normal!

Yours truly,

Nicklas
